• Forgetting to post and prioritising other tasks
  • Running out of ideas of what to post
  • Getting disheartened by a lack of engagement
  • Simply not knowing where to start

If you can relate to any of the above then we are here to help. First of all, you need to work out your social media strategy and work out where you should be posting, how often and how you are going to allocate the time to it. There are lots of articles and advice out there that will recommend how often you should be posting to each platform.

  • Facebook – 3 – 5 times per week – usually between the hours of 11am and 3pm
  • Instagram – 1-2 times per day – at least once a day depending on your audience
  • Twitter – several times a day
  • LinkedIn – Monday – Friday between 10am and 11am

The times are only a guide – you will work out what works for you. you can be pretty confident though that posting on a Saturday between 9am and 4pm will see little return for your efforts.

Once you have worked out a strategy and when/where you are going to post, the next step is to carry out a social media audit.

Audit Your Pages

If you are planning on resuming posting on social media for business after a break, it is a good idea to carry out a quick audit of your pages first. Are the contact numbers correct, is the address still the same, have you changed anything, are there new product lines? These are all things that you should check before you start putting your efforts into posting on social media again. Things may have changed on the various platforms and there may be new features to take advantage of. Make sure you are using all of the features to your full advantage to get the best out of the platforms.

Tempting as it is to just start posting again, it’s important to take time and review everything first. While you are auditing your pages, why not take a look at your competitors pages and others in the industry to see what they are doing and garner some inspiration. you don’t have to copy what they do but by looking at other pages, it may help inspire you.
